Science Olympiad will be leaving for MSU on Thursday, April 27th to complete in the State Competition on Saturday, April 29th.

Prom – May 13th

Senior Banquet – Wednesday, May 17th at the Trenary Community Building

Academic Awards Program – Monday, May 22nd.  Middle School Program at 6/High School Program at 7.

Spring Arts Night/Band Concert – May 24th.  Art display at 6 and band concert 7.

Graduation – Sunday, May 28th at 2pm.

Exams/1:30 Dismissal – June 7th and 8th.

Last day of school – June 8th.

The School of Choice Enrollment period is now open.  Applications should be submitted no later than January 27, 2017.

Great news for our Superior Central Yearbook this year!
1. The price has been lowered to $35 before Jan. 1st and $40 after! You can order through the school, message me, or go online to link.entourageyearbooks.com.  Just search for our school and order!
2. There have been so many great photos posted of sporting and other school events. You can easily share your photos through the LINK website above. It is a huge help to us!
3. If you have a business and would like to put an ad in the yearbook please contact me! Ads help us keep the yearbook prices low for the students.

There will be a Middle School Halloween Dance on Friday, October 28th from 7pm – 10pm in the elementary gym.  Cost is $8.

Veteran’s Day Program – Friday, November 11th at 10am in the High School gym.

Smiles on Wheels: October 17-21.   Forms will be sent home with 6th and 7th grade.  Extras are available in the office for students in grades 8th – 12th.  For more information www.smilesonwheels.org.

This week is Homecoming Spirit Week! This year’s theme will be Disney movies. Each grade will be told on Friday which part of the hallway they will have to decorate and which movie will be used as their theme. The dress up days will be as follows:

Monday- Pajama day
Tuesday- Black tie tuesday (formal wear)
Wednesday- “What the heck are you wearing?!” (goofy outfits)
Thursday- Disney day/Pink day
Friday- BLUE DAY

RECYCLING COLLECTION at the MSU Research & Extension Center on Saturday, October 29th from 8am  – 10am. (NO GLASS AND NO EARLY DROP OFFS)

Attention Adventurous 12-17 year olds! Pictured Rocks Climbing Academy is offering a free program where mentors guide a small group of students through a four step program designed to advance the participants rock and ice climbing skills. If you are interested, there are applications in the office. Try something new, we have great climbing areas right here in Alger County!

On Monday, October 24 @ 6:30 p.m., Superior Central will be hosting a Financial Aid Night sponsored by NMU.  All interested parents are encouraged to attend.  Jeffery Gagnon from NMU’s Financial Aid Office will be presenting.  If a family is not able to attend the workshop but would like to set up an appointment Jeff to complete the FAFSA they may call the financial aid office to schedule (906) 227-2327.

Driver Education Segment One:  Wednesday, October 5th – 3:15 – 5:15pm.  Must be 14 years 8 months old first day of class.  Class schedule will be decided during this class.  Cost is $325.  Questions, please contact Maki Driving School at 439-5237.

Driver Education Segment Two:  Friday, October 14th – 5:15pm – 7:15pm.  Must have white state certificate for at least 3 months first day of class.  Must hand in a copy 32 hours of driving time; (2 hours which are at night).  Cost is $50.  Questions, please contact Maki Driving School at 439-5237.

Any 10th – 12th grade students interested in taking the ASVAB, please sign up in the high school office. The test will be offered this Friday, 9/23 from 8:30 to 11:30.  Classroom TBD.

Seniors- NMU is hosting a business and entrepreneurship conference on 10/7/16. Local business owners will be hosting sessions to discuss what it takes to be successful. Lunch will be provided on campus. Bus departs at 8:00 from SC and will return around 2:30. This is a free conference. Interested students can talk to Mr. Fitzpatrick to get more information. Registration deadline is 10/3.

Mrs. Korpi is starting a middle school film club. Any interested students can come to a meeting this Thursday (Sept. 22) during lunch for more information.

Reminder–Final Hunter Safety class is Thursday, Sept. 22nd after school.

Picture forms will be sent home with all K-8th grade students.  High School students can pick up forms in the high school office.  All students whether ordering pictures or not are to get their pictures taken for the yearbook.

If you need a transcript sent to a college or university, please make an official transcript request by e-mailing Deanne Kanerva at dkanerva@superiorcentralschools.org. Please include the students name, name of college or university, and the complete address. Transcripts will be sent out within 2 business days. Official transcripts must be mailed in a sealed Superior Central letterhead envelope directly to the training program, college or university.
