Test to stay

December 6, 2021

Dear Superior Central Families,

As you know, we have been working with the LMAS Health Department since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to keep our students and staff safe and healthy. On Friday, December 3rd, I was notified by LMAS of changes that the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services have made to their guidance for managing students exposed to COVID-19. Since the beginning of the school year, I have asked for a test to stay option for our students who have been exposed to COVID-19 but show no symptoms. On Friday, December 3rd, LMAS accepted our plan of testing school contacts during the first 7 days of exposure. If your student is exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 case, we will call to let you know. Parents can choose to either quarantine their exposed student or have their student tested here at school for 7 days. Parents who wish to have their student tested will need to complete a testing consent form that will be kept on file at Superior Central for the school year.

As a district we have stated that students learn best while in the building at Superior Central. I am very excited that we will be able to keep kids in school.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.

Sincerely,

Bill Valima

Superintendent/6-12 Principal
