Financial Aid Information Night

Dear Superior Central Seniors and Parents,

On Wednesday, February 7th at 6:00 p.m, Superior Central will be hosting a FINANCIAL AID NIGHT sponsored by Northern Michigan University.  I encourage all interested parents or students to attend.  Jeffery Gagnon from NMU’s Financial Aid Office will be presenting.  Below is some information that he thought parents should know.

There are some things that families can do to streamline the process the evening of the workshop.  Please share this with interested families:

1) Have your student with you.

 2) Bring or know the student and parent social security numbers.

 3) If the parent and student have already applied for a Federal Student Aid ID, bring the username and password

 4) Tax Stuff:

a) A copy of the 2022 federal income taxes and a   copy of W-2's, record of unemployment, and IRS Schedules

 5) Other Stuff:

a) Amount of Child Support paid or received in 2022.

 b) Asset information for parent and student - including current balance of cash, savings,

and checking accounts, net worth of investments (not retirement accounts and not the

home they live in), net worth of business or investment farm (only if the business employs

more than 100 full-time workers).

If a family is not able to attend the workshop but would like to set up an appointment with Jeff to complete the FAFSA they may call the financial aid office to schedule (906)227-2327.

Please note, this is not just an event for students attending NMU, it is a service that NMU provides.

Hope to see you there!
